Extra Edition DRN Newsletter – November 2023

DRN Supports active industrial policy in maritime sector

Without exaggeration it can be said that shipbuilding is one of the most important sectors of the Dutch manufacturing industry in which thus VNO-NCW and MKB are involved in the new plans. And the Dutch Romanian Network also endorses the Dutch government’s plans.

There are well over 100 suppliers connected to shipbuilding, which is why we are organizing this expert meeting together with Damen Shipyards, where the strengthening and or expansion of your network plays an important role.

VNO-NCW and MKB-Nederland were closely involved in the new plans. ‘The Netherlands has a strong and innovative maritime cluster with wonderful (SME) manufacturing companies. At the same time, this is under intense pressure from state interference in other countries and unfair competition. As a result, there is often no level playing field, even though there are many opportunities right now because many ships worldwide are due for replacement in the near future. That is why this plan was urgently needed, the business organizations said.

Government and industry will also actively work to improve maritime financing and tax arrangements. It also identifies how shipyards and housing projects need not interfere with each other. The industry itself is tackling the manpower shortage, so there will be additional funds for innovative and sustainable ships and new technology.

Below you will find the draft program as well as a registration form and we encourage you to send it to us in good time because participation is limited for organizational reasons.
