Hemp fibre in the automotive industry

Cars

HempFlax hemp fibres are used in compressed form to, for example, manufacture door
panels and dashboards. Hemp fibre is more durable, lighter and stronger than fibreglass, for
example. HempFlax fibres are used in cars such as Bugatti, Veyron, Jaguar, Bentley, BMW 3,
BMW 5, BMW 7 and Mercedes-Benz A-, C-and S-Class.

In comparison with glass fibres, hemp fibres
require 10 times less energy to produce
and resin can be attached to hemp using
fewer chemicals. Hemp fibres are also more
biodegradable than glass.

HempFlax products can be re-used
multiple times and/or be composted at the
end of their usable life. Hemp flour is a dusty
residual product arising from the
processing of hemp that is used as an
additive in high quality earth for growing
roses. Hemp flour can also be used to
replace glass fibre in plastic granulated
material (used for such processes as
injection moulding and extrusion
moulding).
