HempFlax Introduction
Founder and director Ben Dronkers
Founder Ben Dronkers and Deputy Director Mark Reinders have a great ambition: to
improve the world with hemp fibre.
In the early nineties, Ben Dronkers learned of the potential of industrialhemp.
After he discovered that the Netherlands boasts a long history of growing
and processing hemp, as well as discovering hemp’s ecological value, he had found
his ideal and in 1993, Ben Dronkers
founded HempFlax. His ambition was first
to reintroduce an environmentally-friendly,
economically healthy, traditional crop in the
Netherlands and then in the rest of the world.
Ben: “At the Hash, Marijuana & Hemp Museum
I was happy to explain the many wonderful
opportunities that the hemp plant has to offer
to people and the environment, but nobody
believed me. Why wouldn’t anyone grow hemp
since the plant has so much to offer? Because
I didn’t know the answer either, I started
cultivating hemp myself in 1993. My belief is that
hemp can and will save the world. It is the only
plant in the world with this potential, hemp is
the future!”
