Sustainability

HempFlax offers businesses and consumers the opportunity to flesh out their
environmental responsibilities. The sustainable chain works with the universal
environmental idea of intelligent people, and is aimed at preserving the ecological cycle as

With vision and innovative vigour, HempFlax gives substance to the concept of agrification
in the Netherlands. By making renewable resources available, environmentally harmful
synthetic fibres produced from fossil fuels - such as nylon and plastics - are replaced by fibre
from renewable resources.

By producing hemp wood for, among other things, paper, building materials, sawdust and
many other often environmentally damaging consumer products, HempFlax also combats
unnecessary logging and deforestation. With this, HempFlax responds to the urgent plea by
the United Nations in the environmental conventions of Rio de Janeiro, Kyoto and
Johannesburg.

Without radical changes to the environmental awareness of entrepreneurs and consumers,
the increasing use of energy and consumption rate of the growing world population means
that fossil sources like oil will become depleted before the end of this century. Hemp fibre
is an inexhaustible, sustainable and source of annually renewable energy and industrial raw
materials.

Since 1994, the vision of HempFlax has been tangible in the form of natural fibre products of
high quality. The application of renewable resources and the consumption of products that
ensue from this is the only realistic basis for reducing the greenhouse effect. The amount of
CO2 in the atmosphere need no longer rise if the potential of sustainable agriculture is used.
