BioBase & Hemparade
HempFlax BioBase & Hemparade are premium stable litters: the horses in the stables of
the Royal Danish and British royal families have stood on them for many years. The litter is
made from the wood core of environmentally friendly grown hemp. In the cultivation of
hemp, no insecticides or pesticides are used, and modern harvesting and production
methods of HempFlax ensure consistent and high quality stable litter.
It has been used by a growing number of
horse breeders in Europe since 1995. This
makes sense, because hemp litter is ideal
for horses’ hooves as it forms a resilient
and insulating stable bedding. Its structure
prevents the material from getting stuck to
the hooves of the animal. Acidification of
stable bedding such as wood chip regularly
leads to damage to the hooves. Farriers
rarely observe hoof rot or other problems
with the use of hemp litter. Veterinarians
therefore recommend the use of hemp
bedding.
