Hemp felt - fibre mats
The bails of fibre are fed into the bail openers and
opened. This is the start of the process.

two bail openers so that different sorts of fibres
can be mixed together. Each bail opener has a scale
so that any desired ratio of fibres can be fed in
precisely.

conveyor belts at right angles to each other.
This is where the felt is formed. The thickness is
determined by the speed of the bottommost
belt. The slower this runs, the thicker the layer.
Eventually the thin layers of hemp fibres (from the
top belt) are built up to form a thick layer.
