HempFlax products
HempFlax garden mulch
Weeds no longer stand a chance with this new environmentally friendly product -
without having to use poison! The idea originated in France; HempFlax is now introducing
this unique product to the Dutch market. By scattering a layer of about 5cm of garden mulch
between plants, weeds have no light to germinate. The layer also protects the soil from
drying out resulting in the need for less water for irrigation. Further applications for
agriculture are being developed at HempFlax research centres.

HempFlax hemp fibre mats are used to combat weeds and erosion on and around newly
constructed noise barriers by motorways, for example. Vegetation develops easily on the
mats, thus ensuring a fast rooting in the ground. This helps stabilise the subsoil. Over time,
the natural fibre mat will decompose and eventually disappear. At that time the vegetation
will have taken over the function of erosion fighter.
